The City Arms at Wells

The City Arms has a rich history.

The original building dates from 1549 when it was the City Gaol which remains intact including original barred windows, locks and chains and a solitary cell. In more recent years, we have been serving the finest food and drink in the city.

The building is steeped in history.

There are three comfortable, homely rooms at the City Arms, each uniquely designed. All are ensuite, with WiFi, flat screen TVs and in-room coffee and tea-making facilities. Two rooms are double, and the other is a twin. Included in each are crisp, cotton sheets, duck feather duvets and walk-in showers, all fit for a king!
