Upton House and Gardens is full of hidden treasures. The house, which is set up as it would have been when the Second Viscount Lord Bearsted and his wife were resident in the 1930s, is home to an extensive collection of artworks including delicate porcelain and paintings by well-known artists including Stubbs and Canaletto. The steep slopes of the garden are the perfect hiding places for stunning herbaceous borders and a tranquil mirror pool. If you have little ones, make sure you stop by the natural play areas in the woodland walk on the way in or out, and don’t forget to pop into the shop and restaurant while you’re here.
