Restoration of Historic Turret Clock at Berrington Hall 

Berrington Hall, a National Trust place near Leominster, announces the successful restoration of its iconic turret clock, made by Palmer of London around 1800. After two decades of silence, visitors can now delight in the resounding chimes as the clock strikes on the hour once again.  

The historic turret clock has long been an integral part of Berrington Hall’s rich history. Thanks to the recent conservation efforts undertaken by the esteemed Cumbria Clock Company, the clock has been meticulously restored to its former glory.  

In a collaborative effort, Berrington Hall’s Specialist Craft Team, led by building supervisor Andy Denham, orchestrated the clock’s re-installation with the aid of a cherry picker. Their dedication and expertise ensured the seamless return of the cherished timepiece. Derw Thomas, Senior Collections and House Officer at Berrington Hall, said; ”Big thanks to Andy and his team, it’s great to have the clock striking on the hour, which it hasn’t done for over 20 years!”  

Visitors to Berrington Hall are now invited to experience the awe-inspiring sound of the turret clock striking, an auditory spectacle that has been absent for two decades.
