Wirksworth Heritage Centre

We are a unique local history museum, housed in an old silk mill, who exist to tell ‘the story of Wirksworth’, a beautiful and ancient leadmining town in the heart of Derbyshire.

In our museum you will be able to learn about the history of the town – its traditional industries, local trades, customs, famous characters and the lives of ordinary Wirksworth people through the generations. You will also see many items from our museum collection, enjoy interactive displays and explore the ‘dream cave’, once the home of a woolly rhino!
