A.R.D. Birds of Prey

ARD Birds of Prey is a family Falconry business, run by Alice, who has been working with birds of prey for over 10 years.  We offer a variety of falconry experiences for the whole family to enjoy.  We are based in the beautiful Rosliston Forestry Centre, A 150+ acre site, of woodland walks, ponds and picnic areas, in the heart of the national forest, near to Burton on Trent.  Our collection consists of a large variety of birds from little Owls to our magnificent Golden Eagle, Mary.

We are fully licensed and fully insured.

All our sessions are fully hands on, you get to marvel as these majestic birds fly to your gloved hand.  We give plenty of opportunity to study the birds up close and personal, learn about them and take as many photographs or video’s as you wish. We aim to make your time with us as informal, informative and fun as we can.

The sessions offered are as follows:-

Bird of Prey Experience – Approximately 31/2 hours long, including a ½ hour break mid way.  An interactive session handling and flying a large variety of Owls and Raptors (Hawks, Buzzards & Falcons)

An Afternoon/ Evening with Owls – Approximately 2 hours long, as the name suggests an interactive session for Owl lovers.

The above sessions are group sessions where you will be with other members of the public (maximum 10 to 12 people).  They can also be purchased as private sessions where it’s simply you/ your family and the falconer, no one else, (please note there is a minimum of 2 participants for these sessions).

Meet the Owls – Approximately 1 to11/2 hours long. A private only session, aimed mainly for younger people or people a little nervous about meeting/ flying birds for the first time. We use our smaller Owls that will sit on the glove calmly, helping to ease the nerves. If participants are willing we will also fly a couple of smaller Owls to you, (but it’s entirely up to you).

Group sessions are run at the weekends, from February to November (minimum 2 per month).  Private sessions are any day throughout the year.  All these sessions are pre-booked only.  The dates for the group sessions are posted on our Facebook page :  ARD BIRDS OF PREY

We also offer drop in sessions (no booking required), throughout the year.  Such as hold a bird sessions, static displays and bird talks on science days/ nightwatch.

We also offer educational sessions for schools and clubs both on and off site.
