Melbourne Festival is eagerly awaited by local people and visitors from far afield, Melbourne Festival is the highlight of South Derbyshire’s cultural calendar.
For four weeks people pour in to take advantage of the programme taking place in this gem of a town hidden away between Derby, Nottingham and Leicester.
Each September Melbourne comes alive as a hub for the creative and performing arts so make a date September! The Melbourne Festival Art and Architecture Trail is guaranteed to bring a blur of colour, music and excitement, throughout the weekend the streets were packed with people. This year over 70 local homes, businesses, halls and churches will host nearly 120 artists in the heart of Melbourne featuring a variety of mediums and styles of work all of which will be for sale from £5 to £5000! In addition to the artists exhibiting there are childrens activities, musicians and performers on the Trail and in addition to Melbourne’s great restaurants food is available from the Food Court in Church Street and our special Melbourne Food Festival at Castle Farm.
