New Inn Hotel

The New Inn Hotel lies right in the very heart of Clovelly.

These range from panoramic vistas to sea glimpses. The eighth bedroom has its own private balcony from which there is a delightful view of Clovelly’s world famous cobbled street. Three rooms open out onto a nice long balcony overlooking the street.

The New Inn Hotel at Clovelly can honestly claim to be unique, for where else can you stay in pampered luxury, with the only ‘traffic sounds’ being footsteps and the occasional donkeys’ hooves on an ancient cobbled street? And where else is your luggage brought to the hotel on a sledge?

Originally built in the 17th Century, the New Inn has been a hostelry for well over 100 years and in 1996, on the centenary of his death, was refurbished in the style of William Morris, arguably England’s most influential designer. Great care was taken to recapture all the elegance of that era, subtly combined with the highest standards of 20th century comforts.

Our interior designer stayed true to William Morris’ love of tapestry and interwoven leaf designs with every item of furniture. Each picture on the wall and the many other objets d’art have been specially selected to evoke the period
