The Apedale Valley Light Railway

Trains will run from 11.30 to 4pm on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holiday Mondays until October – please check for details at www.avlr.org.uk or on our Facebook page.

Steam trains run on Saturdays, event days and bank holidays; diesel locos are used on other days. We are planning a number of events during 2026.

The season starts with the Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Saturday, Sunday and holiday Monday. May 10th sees a Bus and Commercial vehicles rally. On May 23, 24 & 25, we will run a Bagnall stem locos event jointly with our friends at the Amerton Railway and the West Lancashire Light Railway. June 13 & 14 is our family Park Animals event. Motor Rail Mania (June 27 & 28) celebrates one of the UK’s main constructors of narrow gauge internal-combustion locos – lots and lots of little locos buzzing all round the site. The Friendly Engines will be visiting on August 8 and 9. August Bank Holiday sees a Land Rover rally on August 29 & 30, and Classic Cars on the 31^st. Our Autumn Railway Gala is on September 19 & 20. We will be hosting Car Boot Sales on Sundays 17 May, 12 July and 13 September.  We end the main season on October 25, 30 & 31 with the popular Halloween Spooky Trains. We hope to see Santa in December (if we are good) – he comes to see us for the December Santa specials, for which pre-booking is strongly recommended.
