The Harley Gallery PDF Print E-mail

The Harley Gallery was built in 1994 on the site of the original Victorian gasworks for Welbeck Estate, in rural North Nottinghamshire.  The Gallery has a national reputation for excellence and innovation and offers a unique mix of art exhibitions; craft shop; treasure gallery and cafe.

The diverse program of events includes displays of contemporary craft; visual art; photography and design; art markets; open studio days; lectures and workshops, which aim to appeal to all audiences from family groups to those with specialist interests.

Art not normally seen outside major cities can be seen at the Gallery and past exhibitors include Sir Peter Blake, David Hockney and Quentin Blake.  The vaulted Treasure Gallery is the only space in the UK to view select displays of fine and decorative arts from the Portland Collection and special historical exhibitions that focus on members of the Cavendish family who have lived at Welbeck since 1606.

Additional attractions on site include an activities area for children, a courtyard garden with moving sculpture and waterfall, The Lime House cafe with its sleek interior and stylish bistro menu, The Welbeck Farm Shop selling locally produced foods and the neighbouring Dukeries Garden Centre.

The Gallery has excellent facilities and in recognition of this has won numerous awards including a Civic Trust Award for Architecture, an Award for Excellence in Tourism even Loo of the Year!
