Train approaches Blea TunnelTravelling on England’s most scenic railway offers an unparalleled opportunity to admire the scenery all around you and see some of the finest countryside in the North.

The 72 mile route from Settle to Carlisle takes you on a journey through the magnificent Yorkshire Dales, over the 24 arches of the Ribblehead Viaduct before plunging in to the longest tunnel on the line, at Blea Moor. Emerging onto the side of Dentdale, the line leaves the Dales at Garsdale and makes it way through the gentle, lush rolling hills of the Eden Valley, with rural villages and market towns, before arriving at the great border city of Carlisle

There is a regular daily service operating all year (except Christmas and Boxing Day), with a wide variety of tickets depending on the journey.

The Settle-Carlisle Railway welcomes coach parties and other groups and offers discounts for groups of 10 or more when booked in advance. The group booking office on 0800 98 007 66 will be pleased to take your call and arrange your booking. Whenever possible the Friends of the Settle-Carlisle provide an on-train guide for the group, free of charge.
