Witley Court

E-mail
ImageOne hundred years ago, Witley Court was one of England’s great country houses. Today it is a spectacular ruin following a great fire in 1937. Stand in the ballroom and visualise the splendour of this great house before the fire, as you listen to household memories of life upstairs and down, on your personal audio tour.

Surrounding the house are the beautiful Parterre gardens designed by William Nesfield, which still contain huge stone fountains. The great Perseus and Andromeda fountain, once the biggest in Europe, is now fully restored and back in working order.

Take some time to explore the Woodland Walks in the north park which contain a fascinating collection of plants and shrubs from around the World. Or visit the Wilderness Garden - part of the contemporary Heritage garden project.
Attached to Witley court is Great Witley Church, which has a superb baroque interior (not managed by English Heritage). The church also has a tea room close by, and Witley Court has a superb gift shop.

Witley Court can be found ten miles north west of Worcester on the A443
