Brockhampton Estate, near BromyardBrockhampton Estate on the Herefordshire / Worcestershire border still maintains the essence of the great English countryside with traditional farms and extensive areas of woodland. The views across the estate are simply stunning and extend to the Clee Hills, Birmingham, the Cotswolds, the Malvern Hills and the Brecon Beacons. There are miles of waymarked paths through park and woodland for visitors to enjoy, including a nursery rhyme walk and a new “Walk for Health”. At the heart of the 1,700-acre estate lies the 14th century moated manor house, Lower Brockhampton, with its beautiful timber-framed gatehouse and interesting ruined chapel. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of events throughout the year, from seasonal guided walks of the estate to family fun days. Enjoy some Midsummer Magic on 24 June or find out more about the people who live and work on the estate at Meet the Brockers on 19 August. In addition, visitors in 2007 will enjoy the newly-refurbished shop at Lower Brockhampton offering an excellent selection of local crafts and produce, including the Brockhampton range of jams, preserves, honey, pork and beef. The Brockhampton Estate is open to visitors all year round. Walks leaflets can be obtained from the tea-room and Lower Brockhampton. Lower Brockhampton is open at weekends from 3 March to 1 April and from Wednesdays to Sundays from 4 April to 28 October. For admission prices to the house and park or for further information, call 01885 488099 or 01885 482077. |
