Come and watch National Hunt racing at one of Britain’s oldest racecourses. Worcester Racecourse is situated at Pitchcroft, close to the heart of Worcester and racing has been taking place on the banks of the River Severn there since 1718. Race meetings run from March to October with a mix of afternoon and evening fixtures which therefore makes Worcester a popular summer jumping destination. The racecourse runs themed events throughout the summer, from Ladies Day on Saturday 2 June to Irish Night on Wednesday July 11th. Following on from last years hosting of the Miss England heat for Miss Worcestershire, this year will focus on Miss Worcester to add a touch more glamour to the proceedings at the evening race meeting on Saturday 5 May. Visitors can choose from viewing the racing from three main enclosures which include Centre Course, Grandstand or the Premier which each cater for different budgets. Pre-book and you could celebrate with friends and colleagues in the scenic surroundings of the corporate hospitality boxes or marquees. Alternatively you may enjoy a relaxing meal in the Severn Suite located within the grandstand, with stunning views over the racecourse and the River Severn. There is a dress code for the Premier enclosure, corporate hospitality areas and Severn Suite restaurant. With the River Severn adjacent to the racecourse, the racecourse also offers Riverboat Hospitality for between 70 and 120 guests. Lunch or dinner is served during a cruise along the picturesque river, returning to the racecourse in time to savour the action on the track. For those who prefer to take in the sights and sounds outside in the centre course or grandstand enclosures, there are a variety of fast food outlets and licensed bars, and there is no dress restriction, so there’s something for everyone. For groups of eight or more people booked in advance, there is the option of purchasing the Grandstand Value Package, which at £14.00 is great value considering it offers grandstand entrance, two drinks, a racecard and Ladbrokes betting voucher. How Stean Gorge How Stean is a spectacular limestone gorge, situated in an Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty, in the very heart of Nidderdale among lush green pastures. Known as 'Yorkshire's Little Switzerland' to the Victorians, the Gorge is crossed by narrow bridges between the rocky paths that lead down and across the rock face. The scenery is breathtaking, and the beck that runs through the Gorge can be anything from a gentle stream to a raging gushing torrent - depending on the rainfall and time of year. |
