History

The Old Rectory is probably the best kept secret in Worcestershire, it has stood on this site for hundreds of years, and has a wealth of historcal connections. The house lies between the Roman built Icknield Street and the monastic carp lakes to the farside of the gardens.

The Doomsday Book lists a building on this site in 1085, during the time in which Lady Godiva's son was Lord of the manor. The great grandson of Sir Christopher Wren lived in the house for over forty years and made a number of alterations in that time & completely “modernised”  the front of the housein 1812 by adding a Georgian facade.

The Gardens

The house lies in the middle of glorious wooded victorian gardens with a sweeping drive to the front of the building . Many of the larger trees including the English Oaks, the Portuguese Laurels, the Horse Chestnuts and the Weeping Ash were planted over one hundred years ago and provide a magical and secluded setting for weddings and parties.
