Maynards Farm Bacon

Image Maynards Farm Bacon and Hams are still cured and smoked on the farm using many of the same methods and recipes used in the 17th Century when the Journeyman Master Curer travelled from farm to farm collecting recipes as he went.

We were delighted two years ago to be approached by Rick Stein's team to see if we would like to be included as Super Heroes in his new book .... an accolade indeed as there are only 50 in the UK. We were equally thrilled that we retained our position in the 2005 edition - alongside some of the best food producers in Great Britain.

 How Stean Gorge

 Sample Image

How Stean is a spectacular limestone gorge, situated in an Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty,  in the very heart of Nidderdale among lush green pastures. Known as 'Yorkshire's Little Switzerland'  to the Victorians, the Gorge is crossed by narrow bridges between the rocky paths that lead down and across the rock face. The scenery is breathtaking, and the beck that runs through the Gorge can be anything from a gentle stream to a raging gushing torrent - depending on the rainfall and time of year.
