Image "Fordhall Farm is the first community owned farm in England.
Demonstrating that small-scale farming connected to the local community offers a viable way of life for generations to come."

Fordhall Farm, in Market Drayton, has been chemical free for over 65 years and rears its own outdoor beef, lamb and pork. Managed by tenant
farmers, brother and sister, Charlotte and Ben Hollins, the farm offers a warm welcome to all.

Farm Shop

ordhall Farm Shop is located on the outskirts of the traditional market town of Market Drayton in North Shropshire. It was opened in 2004 when volunteers helped renovate an old shippon into the speciality farm shop.

Both the shop and the farm are now run by brother and sister, Charlotte and Ben Hollins who began their business back in 2004 when they were only 21 and 19 years respectively. They sell all local or organic produce and Ben prides himself in the beef, lamb and pork that he hand rears on the farm. more..

As well as the beef, lamb and pork we now sell our own dry cured bacon, pork sausages free range organic eggs, fresh locally grown vegetables, Shropshire Honey, jams, organic ice cream and organic speciality cheeses. Fresh meat is available every week and there is always frozen meat in the freezer at a 15% discount. All meat is slaughtered and butchered locally by a small family butcher and then brought back to the farm shop for sale. We also have a designated area promoting the Fordhall Community Land Initiative and healthy living.

We aim to only sell meat from stock reared on the farm but sometimes this is not possible so we occasionally source produce from local farms, rest assured this is always labelled as local meat, so can be differentiated from our own. One of these farms is ony 3 miles away and the farmer adopts a similar system to fordhall rearing many rare breeds (D J Charlesworth).

Everything we do has local connections at its heart and we hope to promote this further throughout our project. We hope you enjoy our produce and reap the benefits of eating great tasting local food from happy animals.
