Llanymynech Limeworks and Canal

E-mail

ImageLimestone has been quarried from Llanymynech Rocks for over 400 years. The newly restored lime works with its unique Hoffmann ring Kiln and chimney is a fascinating opportunity to discover industrial heritage amongst what is now a beautiful country park and nature reserve. Short canal trips on the George Watson Buck can also be taken. Extended walks feature stunning views, geology, rare plant and birdlife, Roman mines, an Iron Age hill fort and a chance to see climbers scaling near vertical cliffs or golfers playing on the high plateau.
Parking is by British Waterways depot next to canal, between the Post Office and Dolphin pub in Llanymynech, or Underhill Lane in Pant (signed Shropshire Wildlife Trust Llanymynech Rock Nature Reserve).
