Derby Cathedral, with its stunningly elegant white and gold nave, is the most beautiful building in the city and brimming with intriguing and very human stories behind every monument and in every artefact.

*Come and find out how Bess of Hardwick, the

richest woman outside the Royal Family, boasted her wealth in Queen Elizabeth the First's day.
*Soak in the serene stillness of our chapel to St Katherine of Alexandria, whose cruel death is remembered today with the catherine wheel.
*Wonder on the moments which turn history as you look at the plaque depicting the point at which Bonnie Prince Charlie turned his army round and retreated to Scotland.
*Admire the simple porcelain tablet to William Duesbury, the man responsible for the birth of the Crown Derby China Company now famed the world over.
And all of this is in just one corner of the Cathedral. Imagine how much more we have to tempt you.
There is no charge for admission and we welcome visitors every day of the year.
With level access and disabled facilities we are truly accessible to everyone. We welcome groups of all kinds, both specialist and general interest, and all ages, and can arrange tours with our experienced guides at competitive rates.
See our website also for our special opening times for:
*The chance to climb our 64m high Tower. See and hear our bells (the oldest ring of ten anywhere in the world) and our magnificent carillon playing a different tune each day of the week. Try to spot our resident peregrine falcons, very much in evidence in the breeding season from May onwards. (A nominal charge is made for this guided event).
*A visit to our St Mary's Chapel on the Bridge, itself steeped in history back to the 14th century and one of only six remaining open for worship.
Refreshments from a cup of tea or coffee to a delicious meal may be found in our relaxing coffee shop just across the road and can be booked in advance if required.
We look forward to welcoming you on your visit to Derby Cathedral
