On the banks of the River Derwent lies Masson Mill. Built in 1783 by Sir Richard Arkwright, the Father of the Factory System, Masson Mill was his showpiece. A magnificent traditional timber-framed structure of red brick with a Georgian façade.

Derby Cathedral, with its stunningly elegant white and gold nave, is the most beautiful building in the city and brimming with intriguing and very human stories behind every monument and in every artefact.

*The chance to climb our 64m high Tower. See and hear our bells (the oldest ring of ten anywhere in the world) and our magnificent carillon playing a different tune each day of the week. Try to spot our resident peregrine falcons, very much in evidence in the breeding season from May onwards. (A nominal charge is made for this guided event).

*A visit to our St Mary's Chapel on the Bridge, itself steeped in history back to the 14th century and one of only six remaining open for worship.
